Paris is always a good idea. The romance capital of the world, La Ville Lumière, is a beautiful place to spend a long weekend. Perfect for lovers and newly weds, it's one of those cities where you can spend hours exploring the arrondisments. Or watching the world go by over coffee with your other half in one of the city's many sidewalk cafes. Visit the Eiffel Tower and see it sparkle with the nightly light show. Filled with beautiful architecture, museums, art and culture, it's a beautiful city to visit any time of year. Spring is one of our favourite times to visit because it's around this time of year that the weather starts getting warmer, and the city is filled with cherry blossom.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Venice is another city famed for its romance. A network of winding streets and bridges, this beautiful city was built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. With its 14th Century architecture, Grand Canal and beautiful palaces, it's an idyllic city to explore for a few days. High season in the summer months means that it's hot and busy with a lot of tourists but head there in spring and you'll be able to enjoy a not so intensive heat. Spend your time getting lost and wandering around the city's many canals, feast on fresh pasta and pizza or indulge yourself in an Italian gelato or two! Or if you're feeling a little flush, enjoy a romantic gondola ride with your beau for an old fashioned tour of the city.
While Iceland isn't usually top of the list for romantic getaways, what could be more romantic than capturing a glimpse of the Northern Lights with your loved one? An increasingly popular city to visit, Reykjavik is a small but perfectly formed city. The city's Nordic architecture and design make it a beautiful destination to explore. While its heavily seafood based cuisine offers fresh, well prepared dishes - along with a few unusual options... whale or shark anyone? Top sights include the famed Blue Lagoon, an ethereal hot spring not too far from Reykjavik with its milky blue waters the perfect place for a dip to warm you up! It's cold pretty much any time of year, but visit in spring for a little less snow!
